Laminate Options

Not your grandmothers Formica!

Laminate, or more commonly known "Formica" countertops have come a long way. The colors/ patterns now a days are almost indistinguishable from granite. Not only have the colors gotten better, but the durability is about as close to magic as you can get. This is the perfect counter material for those remodeling on a budget, flipping a home, kids bathroom, office desk, and many other applications.

Below are links to our two favorite laminate brands. You should recognize Formica, unless of course you live under a rock... As you look through their color pallet you will recognize many colors. That's because Formica is one of the most popular brands out there. You've seen it at your place of employment, doctor's office, even your best friends sister's husbands parents house. From rich solids, to patterns you'd swear was natural stone, you'll find something to fall in love with.

Wilsonart is certainly a company favorite as well. Wanting a beautiful marble look for your kitchen, without paying marble price, take a look at Wilsonart's colors! The R&D team is nothing short of artists. From stunning colors, to the strongest finish on the market at this time (HD finish -35, -45, -55). Scratches stand no chance against Wilsonart's Aeon protection, combined with an HD finish.

Laminate Upgraded Edges

Everyone remembers the flat edges from laminate of old, well times have certainly changed! We have multiple options for upgraded edges. As far as durability, the flat edge is still holds up the best, but may not be the aesthetic look you're looking for. Luckily Formica and Wilsonart both have beveled & bullnosed edges. Things to consider with laminate

Laminate is made from pressed paper which is adhered to particle board. This means it does not hold up to extreme heat, sharp objects, or blunt force. If you take moderate care, laminate tops can hold up for decades, but if you're looking for an indestructible surface, this may not be for you. This is hands down the least expensive option while being able to get the exact aesthetics you want.
