Solid Surface
Hate Seams?
While most kitchen layouts require at least one seam, this material allows virtually invisible seams! The product make up is usually 100% acrylic with some being a mix of polyester and acrylic. Extremely versatile, we can even heat it up and bend it! More times than not, we see solid surface spec'd for commercial applications due to its non porous properties, ability to withstand a lot of abuse, and flexibility of use. Read on to learn more!

Integrated Quartz Sinks!!
Click the "Karran" image to view quartz sinks able to integrate with solid surface. What is an integrated sink? This is a method of undermounting a Karran sink so it essentially becomes one with the countertop. This brand is currently the only one we know of to offer such sinks. Take a look at their integrated stainless steel options as well (E-series stainless steel sinks). Please note, not all sinks offered by Karran are able to be integrated.
Things to consider about solid surface.
Like previously stated, solid surface is typically 100% acrylic. This means solid surface, like laminate, does not like extreme heat or sharp objects. The non porous properties makes this extremely stain resistant, but not stain proof. The price point, depending on color, can look a lot like granite prices (high end) or a few dollars more than laminate (low end). The best part of going with solid surface, it can be resurfaced to look as the day it was installed. This includes repairs to burnt sections, abused edges, and deep scratches (we love our children, but they be testing us). Most of our repair requests, rare as they are, are simply requests to sand out small scratches in high traffic areas. The other repair services are again rare at most.
